A much needed day to focus on my needs, wants, and desires to take care of my well-being. Every day in my classroom, my students practice mindfulness. One of the practices they’ve mastered is mindful coloring. They learn how to focus on one thought at a time and just be in the moment. They learn this early in the year, like the first few days and they are six. This practice teaches them to stay in the moment, pay attention to detail, take their time and most important, trust themselves. Sometimes, when you’re coloring your mind wanders and you make a mistake. You can’t always erase so you have to learn from it and keep moving on. You then have to problem solve on the fly if you’ve suddenly changed your plan or design unintentionally. Hmmmm, it’s interesting, life is like that too. I AM fearless. Do I make mistakes? Sure. Do I wish I could erase things? Sometimes. But all in all, I’ve become fearless because I’ve removed the fears of not being good enough. I now love myself for the bad, the good and the indifferent. When you step back, breathe and take life as it comes-staying in the moment, you quickly realize that fear is nothing more than False Evidence Appearing Real.
